It was initially conceived in Brazil by Keef and Wioletta who are the founders of Awakening the Wild and Founding Partners in BrightSky.
It was eventually birthed through a wonderfully harmonious partnership. Awakening the Wild and BrightSky together succeeded in co-creating the first of many collaborative happenings and planted seeds for a wealth of exciting opportunities to come together in community and to offer high quality participatory experiences where everyone involved has the opportunity to discover and offer their unique gifts.
DanSing took its name from decade of workshop offerings by Susannah Darling Kahn, one of the founders of Movement Medicine and one of our BrightSky Ambassadors.
Its intention was to create a space where the community could dance and sing deeply together and experience many different approaches to movement, music and voice as medicine, the medicine of self-discovery and empowerment and the medicine of being in community together through self-expression, held in a container of safety, non-judgement, invitation and togetherness.
Billed as a festival of awakening and reconnecting with our wild nature, through movement, voice, community and world class live music, with an exquisite line-up of musicians and facilitators from the world of conscious dance, voice and sacred/world/folk music, it featured offerings from several of the BrightSky founding partners, including Steve (OSARA) Anderson, Keef and Wioletta, Bonnie, Susi and Ben and showcased a wealth of talented musicians and facilitators and created many opportunities for new friendships and collaborations. Many of the crew, including Jo Burrows and many of the participants were also from our community.
Many lessons were learned in the process and inspiration for taking things to the next level was readily offered and available. We are already dreaming DanSing 2020 and look forward to including even more beautiful offerings from within the BrightSky Community.
THANK YOU to all.
